One man died Monday following a garage explosion in the town of Crescent.
According to a press release from the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, the dispatch center received a 911 call at 7:25 p.m. Monday reporting the explosion and upon arrival, authorities determined the man had died from injuries sustained in the explosion.
The man has been identified as Jared Houg, 34, and in a press release issued Wednesday by Capt. Terri Hook of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Houg's death “appears to be an accident.”
“It appears the explosion occurred while Houg was making fireworks in his garage,” she said in the press release. “None of the ingredients at Houg’s residence were illegal and Houg’s actions were legal.”
